Our Projects
Tackling social challenges
RSA projects tackle some of the most difficult global and local social challenges facing us today. Working in a variety of different disciplines, we combine radical new thinking with practical action to deliver positive social change.
Opportunities for change
Society today is experiencing more rapid and profound changes than in any other period of history. Achieving real, sustainable progress has never been more challenging.
Contemporary social issues such as climate change, social cohesion, mass migration or ageing populations are characterised by their complexity, scale and unpredictability.
To solve these problems, we need to find new ways of doing things. We need to be innovative and to think creatively across a wide range of disciplines. We need the capacities and the political will to create new opportunities for people to take both individual responsibility and collective action.
Working together to get results
RSA projects cover a diverse range of topics from developing new brain power to personal carbon trading.
We tackle problems in many different ways. Our approach is to push the boundaries of current thinking and practice; all our projects combine radical thinking, rigorous research and practical policy recommendations which are tested and evaluated in real world settings.
Ideas for projects may come from our own research, or from Fellows who are actively involved in national and local social change initiatives.
We also work with a broad range of partners who share our aim of translating knowledge and progressive thinking into practical action. Some may have specialist expertise, while others may wish to invest in a project to maximise its potential.
