Jackie was a member of the RSA's London Region Committee for many years and was involved with its Youth Awards scheme as a mentor and awards event organiser. She was a member of the Fellowship Council and served on several of its working groups, as well as a being a member of the Governance Advisory Group.
Jackie Elliman is Legal & Industrial Relations Manager at the Independent Theatre Council, a management body that supports innovative theatre companies, many of whom work in areas that connect with the RSA's concerns - homelessness, health, young people, disability, environmental issues, etc.
Jackie has worked in the not-for-profit theatre sector for most of her life. She retrained as a lawyer some years ago and now has a job which combines law and theatre.
Jackie is passionate about the law as well as the arts, with a particular interest in Dispute Resolution. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and was a long-serving member of its London Branch Committee. She is also qualified as a mediator and has introduced mediation to the performing arts sector.
Jackie has served on a diverse range of panels including City University's MA in Arts Management advisory group and the Home Office's Immigration Taskforce for the entertainment sector. She is company secretary of the ITC and also of Jazz Services, a music charity. She is a Trustee of StageText (a charity that provides captioning for theatre shows and other cultural events) and a Director of the Independent Street Arts Network.
