RSA Student Design Awards

RSA Student Design Awards Intern

£17,108 per annum (equivalent to the London Living Wage, pro rata) + benefits. Fixed term for 6 months from 07 March 2016. Based in London WC2

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the RSA’s Action and Research Centre to provide support to the RSA Student Design Awards team. The RSA Student Design Awards is a global curriculum and competition that challenges emerging designers to tackle pressing social, environmental and economic issues through design thinking.

The RSA Student Design Awards team is now looking for an intern to work with us for the next six months to provide general support to the team across events, admin and communications.  The intern will help with many aspects of the team’s work  including assisting with running the competition judging sessions, publicising winners and helping to plan the awards ceremony as well as creating graphics and preparing content for the launch of our 2016/17 briefs.

The ideal applicant will have an interest in design education, design for social good and empowering the next generation of designers. This opportunity would most suit someone who is enthusiastic about assisting with the management of a fast-paced design competition and curriculum. We are looking for someone who has strong Photoshop and In Design skills and can assist us in developing communications materials but who is happy to spend a considerable amount of time organising logistics, coordinating events, and undertaking a variety of other administrative and practical programme delivery tasks.

Please note that creating artwork is only a small component of this role – the successful applicant will work closely with the Student Design Awards team on all aspects of their work, so this post should appeal to someone who enjoys variety and multi-tasking and is a flexible team player.

As an RSA intern, you can expect to make a real and valued contribution to one or more RSA projects, as well as the opportunity to develop your skills through our in house training and one to one training from RSA colleagues.

We would like to hear from capable and passionate individuals who are committed to the ethos of the RSA and the work of the RSA Student Design Awards team and who will benefit strongly from this opportunity. If that sounds like you, then we look forward to your application!

The RSA’s mission is to enrich society through ideas and action.  We serve this mission by acting as a global hub, by enabling millions of people to access the most creative ideas, by nurturing networks of innovators, and through researching, testing and sharing practical interventions.
