The Vikki Heywood Room was formerly a part of the library created in 2003. It was made into a separate room within the library in 2018 when the spaces underwent significant redevelopment.

At this time it is named after the outgoing and long-serving Chair of the RSA, Vikki Heywood.

Vikki Heywood DBE has served as Chair of the RSA between 2012 and 2024. She was trained as a stage manager, became the joint Chief Executive of the Royal Court Theatre, and was the Executive Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2003-13.
