Barry Island currently suffers from run-down tourist infrastructure, poor brand image, and a local ‘glass half empty’ culture - can Fellows transform its future and turn into a thriving resort with high levels of community engagement?
Barry Island has great potential, so Barry Ideas Bank was envisaged to run a series of local meetings to generate and capture ideas, share examples of local community role models and create new contacts and networks within the island.
Created by a network of local people – including RSA Fellow Andy Green as a director - BIB is seeking to transform Barry Island’s future. Currently a resort suffering from a run-down tourist infrastructure, poor brand image, and a local ‘glass half empty’ culture - yet with great potential.
