Many new citizens' assemblies have been announced in the UK and across Europe. Why has this happened? And how can we make this ‘deliberative moment’ last?
We’ll be supporting three citizens’ assemblies across the county on local issues:
- Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council on the future of Dudley and Brierly Hill town centres.
- Greater Cambridge Partnership (Cambridgeshire County Council, Cambridge City Council, South Cambridgeshire District Council) on improving public transport, air quality, and tackling congestion.
- Test Valley Borough Council on the regeneration of Romsey town centre.

How to tell the story of a citizens' assembly: a guide
As part of our work to support practitoners, The Democratic Society and the RSA have published a guide to help commissioning bodies (such as local authorities) publicise the work of citizens' assemblies.
The Innovation in Democracy programme is being led by two government departments, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government as part of the Civil Society Strategy. You can see more about the programme on the Government’s website.
