Approach (Make Change Happen) - RSA

Make Change Happen

In a world that is complex and fast moving, change is inevitable, yet hard won.

At the RSA we’ve been at the forefront of realising societal change since 1754, from ensuring education for all by creating the first public exams to identifying technological solutions to end child labour – social change is in our DNA.

Our proven change process, the Living Change Approach, underpins all of our work and enables us to effectively support social innovators to regenerate our world through collective action.

Download our Future Change Framework toolkit now to get started and join over 1000 changemakers who are using the framework to support their communities and organisations to shape and realise change.

LIVING CHANGE

How we are working with and through others to realise change

The Hackney Emergency Food Hub, based in the UK, feeds vulnerable individuals shielding from Covid-19 and families at risk of food poverty.  When the pandemic first broke, Deputy CEO Valy Thorsteinsdottir FRSA applied for an RSA Catalyst Grant to provide much-need infrastructure support. This has helped the project adapt as the demands of the community have changed with the virus.

The RSA’s Cities of Learning is a new model for cities and regions in the UK to design and deliver inclusive lifelong learning tailored to the needs of local people and economies. Developed in partnership with cities and localities, education providers, employers, youth sector organisations and education funders, Cities of Learning helps people find new learning opportunities and, through digital badges, have their achievements recognised to tell their own story confidently.

Cities of Learning has unleashed a well of confidence and opened my mind to new experiences

Norfolk County Council’s Further Afield Project, based in the UK, looked at trends and drivers of change in Norfolk over the next 20 years. The RSA ran an event in Norwich with Fellows to explore in more depth what they think the emerging future may be for rural communities and how we as the RSA and Norfolk as a county respond. Find out more about RSA Fellowship in your area.
