The talk and the book take their name from a typically interesting but baffling parable from Nietzsche.

Listening to it I started to think how much more enlivening metaphors and stories can be than blunt arguments.

I started to think that all my education was concerned with teaching me to write clear, straight forward, reasoned arguments, of the type;

  • Point 1
  • Point 2
  • Point 3
  • Conclusion
I wish I was better at constructing metaphors and fables. What do you think an education that equipped people to be better at this would look like? Answers in aphorisms welcome...
