Not-for-profit Doing Social offers RSA Fellows the opportunity to deliver workshops and masterclasses in Leeds, regardless of qualifications or prior teaching experience.

Short applications are invited from individuals or projects, to deliver workshops or masterclasses on a new social change degree for aspiring changemakers, which is available at Carnegie School of Education, Leeds Beckett University, from September 2019: BA (Hons) Innovation and Skills for Social Change.

Doing Social, a not-for-profit organisation, are partnering with the university to identify people with experiences and knowledge of working in or with communities, the third sector or other social change spaces including in activism and social innovation, to deliver 2-hour workshops to students on a wide range of topics.

Applicants do not need any qualifications or prior teaching experience. Selection is based on the knowledge you have of the topic that you wish to deliver, gained either through practice and/or through your lived experiences, and the learning experience that you can offer to students.

Full details can be found in the information pack available online here.
You should find answers to many of your questions in the pack, as well as the link to the short online application form. If you have further questions, you can send them to info@doingsocial.org.

There are 34 topics to choose from in Year 1, but you can also propose new topics and workshop ideas. Separate calls will be issued in May 2020 and May 2021, inviting people to deliver workshops and masterclasses in Years 2 and 3 of the degree, respectively. Applications for delivering in Year 1, close on July 31st, 2019, but Doing Social may confirm some sessions before the closing date, so it is recommended that you complete the form sooner if possible.

Queries will be responded to together, once a week on an Updates page here. Access-related requests will be responded to directly.

Doing Social are keen to widen this opportunity to people who would not normally get the chance to deliver in a university setting. Their aim is that the delivery team is diverse in terms of background and experiences, but also that this is a developmental or growth opportunity for those who are delivering.

Those with experience and knowledge to offer for future changemaker are encouraged to apply!
