Whole Person, Place and Community: Exploring recovery beyond treatment

Fellowship events / Research & Impact Event

  • Community engagement
  • Drug & alcohol recovery

Join us to explore how existing community, institutional and individual assets can build recovery capital in the context of substance misuse.

Following on from the RSA’s seminal work on Whole Person Recovery and Recovery Capital, we’ve been implementing this approach in a payment-by-results pilot across three sites in West Kent since 2012, in partnership with national treatment provider CRI.

As the project enters its final 6 months of work, we want to share our emerging findings and, as a group, think through which ideas should be developed, where there are barriers or objections, and what practical actions could be carried out by individuals, commissioners, related public services and the community.

How can we better consider recovery in terms of current public service framework and also the capacity of the person and place? And how can we extend the concept of recovery beyond engagement with treatment?

The event will bring together a range of individuals involved in recovery: treatment services, peer support groups, service users, and the wider community.
