A timely look at an uncomfortable truth - we will not achieve pay equality for women without radical changes to contemporary capitalism.

Despite the decades of struggle that led to equal pay legislation and statutory employment rights, women in the West remain over-represented in low-salary and low-skilled occupations and are still regularly paid less than men for doing comparable work.

In her new book Women Vs Capitalism, leading economist Vicky Pryce argues that the free market is hard-wired to perpetuate inequality. While there are a range of measures that can help redress the balance - including encouraging companies to offer greater flexibility in the workplace and to support women to move into leadership roles - the key to real progress lies in government-led interventions and penalties for non-compliance.

Join Vicky Pryce at the RSA as she delivers a blunt and powerful assessment of the short-termism ingrained in our capitalist system and its negative impact on women; and shows us how the fight for gender equality is not only a moral imperative but makes sound economic and business sense.
