We all have our own preferred ways of thinking, organizing, and solving problems. Some of us thrive on structure, clear guidelines, and routine, while others embrace spontaneity, flexibility, and the freedom to explore new possibilities. But where exactly do you fall on this spectrum?

Join the RSA US community for an interactive virtual workshop where we will dive into the fascinating world of Problem Solving with Style using the KAI (Kirton Adaption-Innovation) Inventory. This workshop is designed to help you understand your natural, innate problem-solving preferences and how they influence the way you approach challenges in both your personal and professional life.

For this event we’ll be joined by Nicola Ryall FRSA, CEO of the KAI Foundation, and Dr. Iwan Jenkins, President of The Riot Point and Chairman of the KAI Foundation’s Advisory Council, who will share their own experiences using the KAI Inventory and how this has been applied to both their lives and work. The conversation will be moderated by Curtis Friedel FRSA, Co-Founder & Director at the Center for Cooperative Problem Solving, at Virginia Tech.

What You’ll Learn:

  • What is KAI? Gain insight into Kirton’s Adaption-Innovation Inventory and how it measures your inherent problem-solving style.
  • Your problem-solving style: Understand whether you are more “adaptive” (structured, organized) or “innovative” (fluid, boundary-pushing) in your approach.
  • Harnessing your strengths: Learn how to leverage your preferred style to solve problems more effectively.
  • Balancing your approach: Explore how the most effective problem solvers often sit somewhere in the middle – balancing structure and freedom to adapt to the needs of different situations.
  • Practical insights: Learn from previous KAI workshop participants about their experiences using this tool.
