Citizens and Inclusive Growth - Manchester

Research & Impact Event

 -

Federation House, Manchester

Events in the US, Brexit and devolution in the UK, and the rise of grassroots movements across Europe provide the real-time and potent context for ‘Citizens and Inclusive Growth’, a new programme of RSA action research, delivered in partnership with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF).

The RSA invites you to join us in an exploration of 'CITIZENSHIP' at an event which brings together a broad spectrum of citizen perspectives to vision a future Manchester, delivered with local partners M4.

Building on the work of the RSA’s Inclusive Growth Commission and the Citizens’ Economic Council, this live and participatory research project seeks to interrogate what citizenship means and how it is manifest within the inclusive growth agenda, exploring a range of international and UK citizen engagement methods, mechanisms and systemic infrastructure as case studies to identify and evidence what works, and to draw out and understand the reasons at the core of what doesn’t.

The agenda for the afternoon includes an immersive experience in one of four selected themes, inviting contributors to reflect, re-think, to experience up-close and to see the familiar through a different lens. Through a collective ‘moonshooting’ exercise (mission-oriented goal setting), we will seek out collaborative and ambitious approaches to some of the city’s key challenges.

There will be an opportunity for you on the day to contribute and respond to the Citizens and Inclusive Growth research. You can find out more about the project and click through to the latest findings and articles here.

The event is ticketed to meet venue capacity. Please RSVP via this Eventbrite page, and you will receive a registration confirmation and ticket. On registration, you will be given a series of optional, short tasks to complete prior to the event.

We very much hope that you can join us, and look forward to welcoming you.
