Join Fellows in and around Leicester for the East Midlands end of year lecture and lunch.
The lecture was delivered by Ms Andrea Walker-Patrick, Arts Educational Advisor at First Taste Charity.
With an arts education, beginning at Derby Art College with Tailoring & Design, Andrea progressed through the trade becoming a tutor, lecturer, writer, moderator and trainer in Adult and Further Education, as well as managing her own tailoring business.
During the last 11 years she has been heavily involved with First Taste Charity in the Derbyshire Dales, delivering arts education into care/nursing homes, which has now been nationally recognised for our work in the voluntary sector and was honoured with The Queen’s Award 2009.
After years of observing, delivering and writing, First Taste now have an educationally formatted Arts Educational Programme fit for the purpose of using in care settings: complete with aims, objectives, outcomes, monitoring and stimulation. They were involved in a trial run with intergenerational work, involving a local school and special needs pupils visiting care homes. The programme proved so successful that the school is now continuing without the charity's input.
