Unleashing Metro Growth: How can metro-cities improve the lives of citizens?
Join active citizens and Fellows of the RSA on Thursday 29th January to discuss what City Growth and devolution can mean for the wider East Midlands. City Growth Director Ben Lucas will present the findings from the final report of the RSA's City Growth Commission with the opportunity for discussion and responses from local FRSA (Fellows of the RSA) and others making positive changes where they live.
Spurred by the Scottish devolution discussion, cities are now realising their opportunities to regain power and to focus growth around their priorities. The RSA's report Unleashing Metro Growth, published in October 2014, highlighted the need for Cities across the UK to be empowered to unleash their potential for creativity and innovation, improve their connectivity and boost their productivity.
What does this mean for metro regions? What defines these regions, and how can they promote growth and prosperity – locally and nationally, economically and socially? What difference can metro-cities and devolution make – and how might they help address social challenges and improve the lives of citizens?
This is a free event for FRSA and active citizens to explore these issues.
The full address for this event is Waterstones Sillitoe Room (top floor), 1 - 5 Bridesmith Gate, Nottingham NG1 2GR.
