We are delighted to invite you to this 'Meet your Maker’ event jointly hosted by Weave and the RSA.
Weave is a social enterprise based at Lynemouth Resource Centre in South East Northumberland. The project is built around a fully equipped maker-space where creativity, learning and commerce meet to create employment opportunities for women with experience of the clothing industry; where makers are matched with designers and designers are matched with buyers; where fashion and fabrics workshops give everyone a chance to get involved.
It’s all fairly new still but the team are already delivering quality products to national buyers – if you pop into one of Hamleys toy stores anywhere in the world, the chances are they’ll be decked out in a costume put together in Lynemouth.
And this is just the beginning! The maker-space opens up rich opportunities for people who want to commission collections, develop their interest in the fashion and textile trades, share their skills in workshops, see a successful social enterprise at work and much more.
This drop-in session is a chance for designers needing samples, makers, trainers, commercial buyers and individuals wanting to recreate favourite items, to see what the maker-space can offer.
Weave are especially keen to meet RSA Fellows and those in wider networks supporting enterprise and regeneration to exchange ideas and find new ways to work together.
Join us for a glass of wine, chocolates (made in Lynemouth by Weave's sister project, Kenspeckle), a chat with the team and the chance to have-a-go at creative activities.
This is a free, drop-in event but we do ask you to register in advance. Please click 'Book Now' above.
Location: Weave Makerspace, Lynemouth Resource Centre, Lynemouth, Morpeth, NE61 5YJ
