Help us set the 2015 – 2016 agenda for the Surrey network of RSA Fellows by attending this informal seminar to share your ideas and shape our future programme of events.
The event will take place at the beautiful and historic building which was built on the edge of Bushy Park in the 1750s by the Earl of Halifax for his mistress, was then bought by the 4th Earl of Sandwich (of reputed sandwich fame), later became the home of the Twinings Tea family and is now independent school, Hampton Court House.
Refreshments in the main hall, which has lovingly been restored to its former opulent and elegant self by the founders of the school, will be followed by round-table discussions in which Fellows can suggest and prioritise the topics and speakers they would like the RSA to book for them in the months ahead.
This is your chance to contribute to a “reboot” of the Surrey Network, to meet other local Fellows and to ensure the RSA gives you the events you’d like to attend in the future.
Guy Holloway, RSA Fellow and Headmaster of Hampton Court House, will welcome us, give us a brief history of the house and explain how he and his co-founders brought back this hidden gem from near dereliction into productive new uses as a school since 1998.
Hampton Court House is conveniently located 30 minutes from Waterloo on the South West Trains service, and can be reached via the Southampton and Portsmouth lines to/from Waterloo by changing at Surbiton or Clapham Junction. It also has parking for those who come by car.
Directions by rail: From Waterloo every half an hour to Hampton Court
From stations to the south: Join the SW Trains service from Southampton or Portsmouth and change at Surbiton or Clapham Junction
From Hampton Court Station: Turn right out of the station and cross the River Thames. Walk 0.5 km, crossing straight over a roundabout. Where Hampton Court Road makes a right-angled bend to the right, take a left down a private lane to the school.
