An invitation: Help us bring Journey to Justice to Edinburgh
Journey to Justice aims to inspire and empower people to take action for social justice through learning from human rights movements. The Journey to Justice mobile exhibition tells the extraordinary stories of the men, women, and children involved in the civil rights movement and links that universal history to UK struggles for freedom.
Using photography, text, audio-visual features, poetry, music, and interactive installations, the exhibition explores the question, "What leads people to be active in social justice campaigns of all types?’" As the exhibition travels around the UK we will partner with local communities to run a programme of arts and education events, telling local stories of fighting for freedom, equality and human rights. We will show how change for social justice can happen led by ‘people like us’.
On the day of the event we will do the following:
Introduce you to the work of Journey to Justice: activities, projects, approach
Showcase the Journey to Justice pilot projects: exhibition, events, films, impact
Discuss the possibility of bringing Journey to Justice to Edinburgh in 2017
Identify potential venues, audiences, activities, funding sources
Begin to explore some local, untold stories of struggles for rights and freedoms
This will be followed by a communal lunch - please bring your own food.
