Come along to this RSA Salisbury Network Event as we consider the future of the arts in Salisbury.

Salisbury is already renowned as a centre of excellence for the arts, with an incredible and varied range of provision. At this gathering, we’ll be focusing on the future of the arts in Salisbury. Our guest speakers will highlight exciting opportunities and potential challenges for the arts in the city.

Ross Sanderson and Kayleigh McCormick will talk about the future of Life Rocks, a new Salisbury based Community Interest Company, and the Harnham Bunker music facility it opened recently. Three years in the making, this inspirational and unique project makes use of a fascinating local asset that had stood empty for decades. Working in partnership with Wiltshire and Salisbury Council, and its principal sponsor Naim Audio, Life Rocks uses music to support and inspire young people to succeed.

Peter Riley will discuss the future of the Young Gallery. The Young Gallery can be found on the first floor of the central library in Salisbury Market Square. In 2013, it celebrated its centenary following the original bequest by Edwin Young that established the gallery. It shows artworks from its five collections as well as a programme of touring exhibitions throughout the year. The collections encompass paintings, sculpture, and photography, and work featured includes that by Moore, Huxley, Hockney, Jones, Nash, Blackadder, and Francis. Potentially relocating the public library and the Young Gallery was part of the Arts Quarter idea in the Salisbury Vision for the Maltings redevelopment.

It is free to attend - just register your place using the link at the top of this page.
