Join us at this special event in Matlock to spark new conversations and discover ideas that have the potential to become a powerful source for a culture change in how we view good health and how communities work together to support it.

This special event in collaboration with Wellbeing Erewash and NHS England will bring together some of the cutting-edge insights emerging from the  ‘Health as a Social Movement’ programme.

The RSA is currently working with NHS Vanguard site Wellbeing Erewash, the NHS and the New Economics Foundation in order to support social action in health and care, and help create a new understanding of health as not just the absence of illness, but the active pursuit of wellness.

This event will help connect RSA Fellows, key local health, care, and education stakeholders, and Wellbeing Erewash programme leads with each other to share best practice and explore how the successes of the programme could inform wider approaches across Derbyshire.

As well as providing an opportunity to learn about the Wellbeing Erewash project and to meet a range of local change-makers, this event will also enable you to find out more about:

  • The RSA's main areas of work in health and care.
  • How you can engage with the RSA, our work, and our network of 28,000 Fellows - both in your local area and beyond.

About the Health as a Social Movement programme

Building on the agenda set out in the NHS Five Year Forward View, Health as a Social Movement is a new three-year programme, with partners the RSA, the New Economics Foundation, and Nesta to support social movements in health and care.

Working initially with six new care model vanguards across England, NHS England and partners will develop, test, and spread effective ways of mobilising people in social movements that improve health and care outcomes and show a positive return on investment. This programme will also work with the wider vanguard network and beyond to support development and spread of social movements in health and care. More information can be found here.

Location: Members’ Room, County Hall, Matlock, DE4 3AG
