  • Fellowship

In 1754, William Shipley founded the RSA with a belief that the creativity of ideas could enrich social progress. Over 250 years later, we’ve taken inspiration from his belief and developed a series of Engage events across the UK to engage with, encourage, and support our Fellowship community to turn their ideas into action.

Join us at RSA Engage in Southampton to discover and support projects that are tackling 21st century challenges, to make new connections within the local Fellowship network, and to contribute to the mission of the RSA.

This event is hosted as part of Solent Showcase Gallery’s Stand Together participatory exhibition. A mix of ideas will be pitched with the theme of “standing together to address 21st century challenges”. The pitches will be followed by an opportunity for you to ask questions, find out more from the people driving the ideas forward, and volunteer your support.

A CALL TO ACTION

RSA Engage provides a brilliant platform to ignite and share your ideas. If you’re working on a project that’s tackling social, economic, or environmental challenges and you’d like to seek support from an informed and connected audience, apply to pitch.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 11 March. Support and advice for shaping your three-minute call to action will be available before the event.

Planning to attend? Please register a free ticket in advance using the link above.

We have joined in partnership with Solent Showcase Gallery for this RSA Engage event. Presentations and pitches at the event will follow the theme of “standing together to address 21st century challenges”. We will hear about projects that include creative and artistic responses to the challenges of our time.

Melanie Andrews, RSA Design Network Manager, will also join us to give an overview of the work of RSA Design. RSA Design aims to create a healthy dialogue about the potential of design and the positive impact it can have on the future of society, education and industry.

Drinks will be available on arrival.

This RSA event forms part of gallery takeover activities arranged by Rebecca Kinge from The Southampton Collective. The gallery offers participants the opportunity to add to this evolving exhibition, through dialogue as well as visual communication. The exhibition’s resident artist Kev Munday will be responding to these contributions.

If you have any access requirements or require any reasonable adjustments, please let the team know: networks@rsa.org.uk. Please also let us know if you have any dietary requirements or severe allergies.

MORE INFORMATION

RSA Engage events are a mix of short project pitches and facilitated networking. Each pitch will conclude with a call to action, encouraging the audience to share their skills and experience to help further the project. In between project pitches, there are short bursts of networking where you’ll be able to spark new connections and talk to the project pitchers about how you can support their work. There will also be opportunities to find out more about the RSA, our main areas of work, and how you can engage with our network of 29,000 Fellows.

We welcome non-Fellows who support the work of the RSA and anybody interested in finding out more about Fellowship to attend.
