Join the RSA and Patrick Grant to discuss how manufacturing and making can be at the heart of thriving communities.

We know things are changing; we're feeling guilty about those fast fashion purchase, straws are on their way out, and we're wanting the things we buy to be well made, and maybe even made locally.

As technology enables production to take place on smaller and more bespoke scales, and as more people are interested in making things themselves, we focus on how these activities can help make our communities fairer, more creative and more sustainable.

We will hear from Patrick Grant about his enthusiasm for supporting UK manufacturing. Patrick is the Director of Norton & Sons and Community clothing. He is a regular on television and radio as a commentator on fashion, clothing, and textile, and has written for titles including GQ and The Financial Times.

His talk will be followed by a Q&A session, and then there will be time to meet and talk with others interested in making and manufacturing.

We'll be running a seminar in the afternoon focused on discussing findings from our Cities of Making programme. We're fully booked for this part of the day but please do get in touch if you are particularly interested in case a space becomes available.
