Join RSA Fellows and friends in Liverpool for a presentation and interactive discussion based on research that suggests learning new things in later life can help us live longer.

Alan Potter FRSA will share his insights into just how important learning in later life is, and review new research into how to do it most effectively. Did you know, for instance, that playing Monopoly is better for you than doing crosswords?

Alan's presentation will examine how current social policy leaves some sections of society actively disenfranchised from learning. If quality of learning is so important for our younger people, why is it not equally vital for a much larger section of society who may have even more to gain from it? Alan's ambition is to make real improvements to the learning and lives of those enjoying, and those hoping to enjoy, a fulfilling later life.

The building is accessible but the lift is some way from the Senate Room. A wheelchair can be provided if we are advised it is needed.

Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be available in the Senior Common Room from 17:00.

Alan Potter’s presentation will follow a welcome in the Senate Room from Professor Gerald Pillay FRSA, Vice Chancellor of the University at 18:00.
