The idea of a people-centric, high trust organisation is as alien to managers as it is to general workers. The old idea of a top-down vision simply cannot work.  For our May meeting, we will gather at RSA House and welcome author and 20 year executive coach, Anna Pool, via video-link from the US.

Anna will share from her book, recently co-authored with Norwegian Marjorie Parker, ‘Creating Futures That Matter Today: Facilitating Change Through Shared Vision’.  She will also share experience from Norwegian organisations in accessing the collective intelligence of teams with remarkable results.

For those of you who were present, it is similar to the ‘Breathe’ event: the author will generously take us through the process so that we can evaluate how it could work in UK ‘teal’ organisations in the makingAnna will guide us through a mini-visioning to experience the approach.  We will end with a facilitated discussion in the room of our views on where and how shared visioning could be used to advance the case for distributed leadership.

Join us for networking from 18.00, with the start of the event at 18.30.

If you have any access requirements or require any reasonable adjustments, please let the team know: networks@rsa.org.uk. Please also let us know if you have any dietary requirements or severe allergies.

About this network:

Inspired by Frederic Laloux’s book Reinventing Organisations, The Reinventing Work Network is about distributed leadership, a focus on purpose, and an invitation to wholeness at work. They are exploring the developing organisational forms that support these goals (called “teal” by Laloux), learning about what’s being done, and inviting the practical adoption of these approaches by RSA Fellows, their organisations, and the RSA. You might have heard RSA talks by Laloux or by Jos de Blok, whose Dutch home-nursing group Buurtzorg is a standard-bearer for the movement. Buurtzorg is structured so that nurses organise themselves. They have no “managers”, and have cut costs to the health service by 40 per cent, while improving quality of care and employee satisfaction. The Reinventing Work network is a gathering-place for people who are leading their organisations towards “teal”, supporting change as consultants, or seeking to inspire change within their own organisations.
