Join us for the latest in our series of social meetings for Fellows based in and around Birmingham.

Please note that Emma Payne will no longer be able to join us due to unforseen circumstances. This meeting will be an informal gathering - a chance to mingle, chat and share ideas.

We’re joined by Emma Payne of Birmingham Scrapstore and PlayCare Network, which has been operating in the city since 1995. Emma will lead a workshop as the starting point for conversations about creativity, play and wellbeing in children and adults.

Birmingham Scrapstore supports the reuse of unwanted materials donated by businesses and individuals across Birmingham. Waste and surplus materials, which would often be diverted to landfill, are collected and sorted and then redistributed to out-of-school providers, schools, community groups and individuals via two Birmingham Scrapstores in Yardley and the Jewellery Quarter.

Birmingham PlayCare Network advocates play as essential for children’s health, development and wellbeing. Freely chosen, personally directed and intrinsically motivated, it is fundamental in helping to develop resilience and a way of coping with the world.

RSA research shows that creative young people feel more confident that they can make a difference in their communities.

We believe opportunities to be creative must affect adults similarly, and that play is also a useful tool for developing ideas and team building

So, please join us for an evening of playful social action, conversation and networking.

This event is free to attend and open to Fellows, friends, and colleagues interested in supporting the work of the RSA.

If you have any access requirements or require any reasonable adjustments, please let the team know: networks@rsa.org.uk. Please also let us know if you have any dietary requirements or severe allergies.

Location: Central RSA Academies Trust, Assay Studios, Newhall Street, Birmingham, B3 1SF
