RSA Fellows and guests are invited to a discussion around current environmental challenges. The speakers include Emily Norton (Savills) and Sally Thomas (SNH).

The speakers, who will deliver short "provocations" to spark debate are Emily Norton (Savills) and Sally Thomas (SNH) - and with others to be added for the Q&A panel. Delegates are advised that the Scottish Government Environment Strategy may come forward before the end of the year, for discussion in late 2019 and/or early 2020. The RSA Fellows' Rural & Environmental Issues Network Scotland [R+EINS] expresses its gratitude to Savills for consent to hold this meeting in their Edinburgh Office, which is headed by Charles Dudgeon.

Emily Norton is Head of Research for the Rural, Energy and Projects division at Savills. The Savills Rural Research team provides policy insight, consultancy services and a wide range of indices on rural land use and occupation. Emily is also a partner in a mixed dairy and arable farm and a 2018 Nuffield Scholar, studying global best practice in agricultural policy design.

Sally Thomas is Director of People and Nature at SNH and oversees the work of five Activity teams - Placemaking for People and Nature, Managing Nature Reserves, Biodiversity and Geodiversity, Marine Ecosystems and Protected Areas and Surveillance. She also maintains an oversight of science across our four outcomes. Sally's colleague, RSA Fellow Clive Mitchell is one of the Virtual Advisory Group for R+EINS, and is SNH Outcome Manager People & Nature, having previously been its Strategic Direction Manager.
