Join the Network for a discussion around the impact of early years education and childcare on children and parents alike. The conversation will be led by Pamela Calder, Former Chair and Co-ordinator of  the Early Childhood Studies Degrees (ECSD) Network.

The Early Childhood Studies Degrees Network (ECS) aims to provide a forum for the advancement of appropriate early years policies, initiatives and legislation. They are also striving towards developing higher education, training and research in the field of Early Childhood Studies.

Pamela is the Former Chair and Co-ordinator of the ECS Degrees Network and a chartered Psychologist. Currently, she is an Honorary Visiting Research Fellow at London South Bank. She has researched and published widely in the areas of feminism, psychology, social policy, children and daycare, with particular focus on the children’s workforce, and was also a founder member of the National Childcare Campaign, campaigning for better access to childcare in the 1970s.

Following a presentation by Pamela on how things have improved and what still needs to change, network members will have the chance to discuss the issues in small groups, before reflecting together in plenary.

We will also briefly hear from the Equality Trust, looking for any Fellows and friends of the RSA, who are interested in improving materials and resources in schools around teaching about socioeconomic inequality. Find out more here.

Meet others in the network over a drink from 18.00 in the Dr Cross Room, with the presentation beginning at 18.30 on The Steps.
