In these times, there is a lot going on. There are distresses, uncertainties and injustices – for individuals and as a society. So how can we help? Where do we start? How do we stay grounded and calm enough to engage with what is needed?
Many wisdom traditions and a growing body of literature points to the value of approaches collectively termed mindfulness. Definitions vary but many practices involve taking a breath and connecting to the present moment – often in connection with others.
This online event (hosted by the RSA Mindful Living Network) will be a collective experiment in presence and connection. It is open to anyone who wants to join in – we will be pausing, coming back to the present moment and connecting with others around the world who want to do the same.
The session isn’t about sharing ideas, solving problems or creating actions – all of which have their important place. Instead we will focus on finding some ground in presence and connection, from which new things can emerge. The hope is that this will lead onto other gatherings, and we will be collecting feedback and input from attendees on what that looks like after the session.
What to expect if you join us:
- Simple guided mindfulness meditation
- Time in small groups in silence
- Sharing experiences in small groups
- Reflection on the process collectively
Taking Part in RSA Online Events
For our interactive online events, the RSA uses the platform Zoom. We have found it simple for participants to use while also providing the necessary functionality for an engaging online event.
We record many of our online events. By attending this online event you accept that you may appear in RSA videos as a participant. Our intention is to use any recording of this event for learning purposes and to document the content of the discussion. Currently we do not have plans to share this recording publicly but may do so in the future.
