Sarah Harper

Director of the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing

Sarah Harper is Co-Director of the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing and Professor of Gerontology and Senior Research Fellow at Nuffield College, University of Oxford.

 

Sarah serves on the Prime Minister’s Council for Science and Technology, which advises the Prime Minister on the scientific evidence for strategic policies and frameworks. She currently chairs the UK government Foresight Review on Ageing Societies, and the European Ageing Index Panel for the UNECE Population Unit.

 

Her research interests focus on globalization and global ageing, and the impact of population change, in particular the implications at the global, societal and individual level of the shift in population ages from predominantly young to predominantly older societies, and the impact on intergenerational relationships and work.
