Vikki Heywood CBE
Vikki Heywood was appointed as executive director of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) in 2003, a position she held until September 2012. The company has a turnover of approximately £35 million per year, employs 700 staff and is the most recognised theatre brand in the UK. Her time at the RSC saw more than 180 productions, both in the UK and oversees, including a major residency in New York. Vikki also oversaw a £113 million public and privately funded redevelopment to transform the RSC's iconic Stratford theatres. Prior to her appointment at the RSC, Vikki was joint chief executive of the Royal Court Theatre, the country's foremost theatre for the development of new writing, where she was responsible for its £20m redevelopment. Vikki was appointed Chairman of the RSA in 2012 and is also Chairman of Mountview Drama School. She is also a member of Warwick University Council and the Council of City and Guilds. She has been awarded two honorary doctorates, from the University of Birmingham, becoming a Doctor of Letters in December 2009, and a Doctor of Arts from Ohio State University in 2012. She was awarded a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours in 2012 for services to theatre.
