2017 was a big year for the Sustainability Network: our membership nearly doubled in size, we expanded our events programme with over eight events across the UK and online, and many of you got involved with our growing range of sub-groups. Now we look forward to 2018, with a new programme of quarterly events around the country launching soon on our webpage.
RSA Fellows in the Brighton area came together in November 2017 to discuss taking action around the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Speakers included Susan Harris FRSA, Sustainability Network Lead, and Libby Davy FRSA of the Greater Brighton Network, as well as other sustainability leaders and champions.
RSA Sustainability Network Sub-groups provided updates on their progress towards their outcomes up to Q4 2017.
On March 27th the Sustainable Households subgroup of the RSA’s Sustainability Network organised a webinar on the topic: Energy Efficiency-Smart Homes and Smart Behaviours. Follow the link to watch the video recording of this online event on Vimeo.
The Sustainable Households sub-group is committed to helping UK households assess and improve their sustainability and we are seeking simple, implementable solutions based on currently available information and methods. We have conducted a survey mostly among our members on the gaps, barriers and opportunities for more sustainable behaviour in UK households.
Run in collaboration with the Sustainability Network, we heard about nine projects working in the broad sustainability sector at this RSA Engage event. Here are the slides from the exciting pitches we heard in a packed room at RSA House. Included in the pitches was Talia Hussain who heads up our Sustainable Department Store sub-group.
Director of Sustainable Business at Marks & Spencer Mike Barry was the guest speaker for our November 2017 event. A discussion with Network Steering Group member Professor Wendy Purcell and the audience included topics such as the jagged disruption changing the retail sector and making sustainability personal for consumers. These slides give an update on the Network’s growth and ways to get involved.
