1) Please give a brief explanation of what it is you do and why?
I work in the business acceleration team for Digital Works Group. DWG is focused on assisting mature businesses with Digital Transformation and digital startups with getting traction in their markets. I have extensive experience in much of the digital world where I have channelled my love of change – change is constantly apparent in digital and I am working on some good projects. A couple of key products of ours are Digital Audits and Sales Optimisation (in particular for ground-breaking startups), both great ways to encourage change – which is what I am passionate about.
2) Why did you join the RSA?
My father was a former Chairman of the RSA so I have been exposed to its values for some time. I have always known I would get involved and when I finished publishing my father’s 1st book I realised this goal in the process.
3) What are you passionate about?
Change, transformation and in particular the betterment of how and why we do things.
4)What makes you angry?
Unnecessary obstacles to change; bad actions.
5) What would you change in society, given the chance?
Politics and Banking.
6)What is the most important lesson you’ve ever learnt?
Trust everything and everyone at surface value and learn from mistakes.
7) What recent bit of news have you heard which inspires you?
The recent hacking for causes has been making me think.
8) Tell us about another interesting Fellow you have spoken to.
I had a good chat with Mark Hadley about the serendipitous nature of acting with good intent.
9)What would you like to connect with Fellows about? Please tell us if there is anything (i.e. experience, expertise etc) you would like from other Fellows:
I would love to discuss and involve fellows in the following projects in particular but am always happy to chat.
W3W – audience and introductions, please; what3words is a giant grid comprised of 57 trillion 3m x 3m squares that cover the entire globe. It is the simplest way to communicate location. I am assisting them in getting in front of aid agencies that can benefit from their solution (at no cost)
Village People – funding and involvement; I am a founder of VP, VP will empower the original communities and villages, to connect, communicate, collaborate, share and crowd source, taking advantage of what the virtual world can bring to their physical worlds…within and outside of the village, inside looking internally and externally and outside looking into the village
Mi-Shape – funding and marketing; they have designed a 3D image scanning solution via mobile with aspirations to revolutionise eCommerce via more accurate size measurement and therefore improved logistics (fewer returns)…I am more interested in the health management elements. They need funding (currently in the Cambridge Accelerator).
Spacetel – come and learn; I am assisting spacetel in Business Development. They are offering Cloud Infrastructure as a Service and are offering free IT workshops where the benefits of the cloud will be explained to SME’s who do not understand the efficiencies, effectiveness and cost saving flexibility the cloud can offer any side of an IT department (mail, hosting, security, remote desktop, PBX)
