Tina Ellen Lee FRSA is the Artistic Director and Lead Producer from Opera Circus, their latest opera Naciketa - focuses on how we treat children in the world and has been shortlisted for the Fedora Opera Prize 2020.

Please vote and help them get through to the final in June 2020.

"Every child has the right to be alive and be protected from violence and abuse.” From the children’s version of the Convention of the Rights of the Child.

Composer Nigel Osborne’s Naciketa, with words by playwright Ariel Dorfman, is a new contemporary chamber opera steeped in the ragas of India, the ancient Indian form of song, Dhrupad, the edgy urban Hi-Life rhythms of Africa and the melos of Chilean Nueva canción.

Commissioned and produced by Opera Circus, with music performed by Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s Kokoro ensemble (Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank, London, 2 June 2021).

Nigel Osborne, the British composer, researcher, inventor, musician and human rights aid worker and activist, is also a renown animateur in the uses of music for children with special needs and those suffering from trauma as a result of war or conflict. Nigel is Emeritus Professor of Music at the University of Edinburgh.

Opera Circus is the only UK opera company of any size, other than the Royal Opera House, on the shortlist of this major international Award.

The work has taken years to develop with all the research, work in progress, testing with audiences across the UK and now finally with the support of so many organisations and institutions, individuals and artists, we are on the way to touring in May/June of 2021.
