Run a micro-business? Interested in the audit profession? We’d like your views

Two new RSA research projects exploring the changing business world are seeking input from the Fellowship.

The Power of Small, a major new research project in collaboration with the online marketplace Etsy, will explore the huge growth in microbusinesses (businesses with less than ten employees, including self-employed individuals) that has occurred in recent years.  We want to understand the current make-up of the UK’s microbusiness community, and explore the implications of this growth for wider society and the economy – from changing attitudes to welfare to the rise of new pop cultures.

We would like to talk with microbusiness founders about their entrepreneurial experiences, including their motivation for starting up, the barriers they’ve faced along the way, and their plans for the future. If you would like to be interviewed, please get in touch with Benedict Dellot at benedict.dellot@rsa.org.uk

Re-inventing the audit profession, a partnership with the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales), asks whether in a world of increasing economic complexity, rapid market changes, radically accessible data and inter-disciplinary partnerships, audit has passed its sell-by date. As part of this project – which will lead to a provocation paper later this year – we are inviting Fellows to contribute their views, either as audit professionals or people with experience of how audit operates in the public and private sectors.

Find out more about the project and how to get involved.
