RSA wins site team of the year at the annual Harbour & Jones awards.

More than 350 H&J staff gathered together at The O2 on Friday 26 June for the annual H&J awards to celebrate achievements of the past year.

Last year H&J launched the awards to celebrate 10 years since the company was created. Since then, the symbolic 10 categories have become an integral part of our company culture, recognising hard work, dedication and the embodiment of the H&J values.

Patrick and Nathan, H&J owners, were overwhelmed by the response to the awards. 230 nominations passed through the judges hands in a bid to scoop one of the coveted awards and the incredible prizes which went with them, including a trip to Africa, a weekend in Barcelona, and a chefs Stage at River Cottage to name but a few.

Teams had until the end of May to nominate their colleagues for an award such as rising star, chef of the year, customer service or leadership. The judging panels were star-studded affairs with Ollie Dabbous, Katherine Ward from Innocent Drinks and Anne Pierce, Chief Executive of The Springboard Charity being just a few of the guest judges taking their places on the panels alongside the sponsors of the awards.

RSA House won Site Team of the Year – a hotly contested category – with general manager, Katy Hadcroft also taking the leadership award. Nikki Hird, special events executive pocketed sales person of the year, making it a hat trick for team RSA.

There was a double winner as Pawel Taras, chef de partie – pastry at The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) was named young chef of the year as well as claiming dish of the year 2015. And the Royal Society, BDP and the H&J support team all took home silverware too.

Together with their fantastic compere, Jessica Pidsley – a Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) graduate and critically acclaimed actress, comedian and writer – Patrick and Nathan also welcomed new members to their Five Year Club and celebrated a newly-formed 10 Year Club with their first member, Creative Director, Jules Heckman Hughes.

A summer party followed the awards ceremony on the Ibiza-style decked terrace at Building Six at The O2, where we enjoyed Harbour & Jones Events trademark street food stalls and a silent disco.

Patrick was delighted with the reaction to the awards. He said: “We really have to extend a huge thank you to everyone involved in making our awards such a success, from sponsors and judges to everyone who joined us on the night. We’re so incredibly proud of our teams for nominating each other and supporting the awards with such positivity and infectious excitement.”

RSA House nominated for Harbour & Jones "Site team of the year"

Other categories include leadership, customer service, sales person, unsung hero and rising star.

The awards are being held at the iconic Building Six @ the O2, part of the Harbour & Jones Events collection, and we hope we can report back next month with good news!

Harbour & Jones Events Wonky Veg Campaign

Spurred on by the Harbour & Jones Wonky Veg campaign, resident Head Chef Darren Archer is taking the bull by horns and bringing Wonky Veg to RSA House.

A TAste of Harbour & JOnes events

We were delighted to welcome more than 60 event organisers to RSA House last week (23rd April) for a one-stop experiential venue safari of the most iconic London event spaces.

A taste of Harbour & Jones Events was a chance for guests to explore eight venues including Prince Philip House, Cutty Sark, Borough Market and 41 Portland Place all under one roof, and to discover what’s new in event catering, food trends and concepts.

Guests from Brand Rapport, PWC, EMAP and UBS arrived to a drinks reception and canapés including marinated tiger prawns with a sherry vinegar & chorizo pipette, and heritage tomato ceviche, before taking their seats with gourmet popcorn in the Durham Street Auditorium for a series of virtual video tours through each of the venues.

Following the presentations, the RSA House team opened the atmospheric Vaults event spaces to reveal interactive global food stalls. A Northern European stall showcased the finest cured meats, British cheeses and picnic-style bites, while a taste of the Far East highlighted the hot trend of Korean BBQ and Ho-Bang steamed buns. The Southern States themed stall proved a huge hit, confirming that pulled pork buns and buttermilk-fried chicken are trends that show no sign of disappearing any time soon.

To top the night off, RSA House head chef, Darren Archer revealed a huge pudding wall filled with bite sized puddings including mini brownies, Turkish delight and coconut ice. And guests gathered for a prize draw that included tickets for The O2 and afternoon tea at St Paul’s Cathedral.

Susan Morrissey, Venue Sales Director of Harbour & Jones Events, commented: “Event bookers are busy people, and site visits can knock a whole day out of the diary. We wanted to bring our venues together under one roof, along with our latest menu concepts to give our guests the full venue visit experience in a snapshot of time.”
