Submissions closed for 2017/18 – what next?
We’re thrilled to have received a wide range of RSA Student Design Awards submissions this year – thank you to everyone who entered!
We are now preparing the entries for judging, which kicks off on Wednesday 21 March. This year we will be announcing the finalists on the News page of our website throughout the shortlisting period (21 March – 18 April), so make sure you keep checking for updates. Who are the judges?
Each RSA brief is judged by a different panel of experts – meet the 2018 judges.
How does the judging work?
The judging of each RSA Student Design Awards brief happens offline, in two stages. There are different judging panels for the different briefs.
The first stage is shortlisting (21 March - 18 April), where the judging panels meet at the RSA to view all the submissions anonymously, deliberate together, and draw up a shortlist. The panel usually shortlists between 6 – 8 projects for each brief, and we will email all shortlisted entrants directly to let them know.
The second stage is a series of interviews (running from 30 April – 10 May), where short-listed entrants are invited to the RSA to discuss their competition entry and some of their other work with the judging panel. We can also conduct interviews via Skype where people can’t make it in person. You can find more detailed information about the judging process here.
When will the finalists and winners be announced?
We will announce the finalists on the news page of our website throughout the shortlisting period (21 March – 18 April) and the winners will be announced on 22 May 2018. Winners will be featured on our Winners page of our website as well as in a gallery on our Facebook page, and we’ll have a big Awards celebration at the RSA on 27th June – you can read about last year’s awards ceremony here.
