The RSA’s education director Julian Astle talks to a group of educators about the importance of ‘mission’ to excellent schooling.

Mission - the shared purpose and values that give a school its distinct identity - can be a critical source of strength to a school community.

Julian Astle, the RSA’s director of education, is joined by a group of educators who each belong to schools shaped and guided by a very distinctive sense of mission. These range from a focus on building character, to developing 21st century skills and capabilities, to prizing a knowledge-rich education.

Join us at the RSA as our speakers share powerful, personal insights into the missions that inspire, drive and sustain them through the highs and lows, the joys and challenges of everyday school life.

To celebrate the opening of the RSA’s new coffeehouse, Rawthmells, we’re bringing together a series of powerful conversations and sharing the best ideas on some of the challenges we face as a society in the next decade and beyond.
