2019/20 launch and tutor briefing event, 24 September

Educators are invited to join us at the RSA to hear from us and our industry partners – including Philips, Network Rail, Ellen MacArthur Foundation and The National Innovation Centre for Aging – about the 2019/20 RSA design briefs, new developments to the programme, and the support we offer tutors and students.

You’re then invited to stay on for a panel discussion: ‘Designing Circular Fashion Futures.’

Tickets are free, but advance registration is essential:

Our clothes are some of our most treasured possessions: they keep us warm, dry and protected; they help us feel comfortable, to fit in and show affiliation, or to stand out and show difference.

However, our global fashion industry is fraught with problems, from waste to water pollution to labour abuses – problems which cannot be fixed with tweaks to the current system. Instead we need a new future for fashion, and we need design skills to help make that transition.

This event will mark the launch of the 2019/20 RSA Student Design Awards with a public panel discussion between speakers bringing different perspectives on how design can be a catalyst for change.

This event is in collaboration with another RSA progamme, Make Fashion Circular: a partnership between the RSA and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation which forms part of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s larger programme of work on fashion and the circular economy.

This talk is open to the public, but anyone who attends the afternoon session and wants to stay on for the talk will be guaranteed entry.
