Watch the 2019/20 briefs presented by our partners

On 24 September we officially launched the 2019/20 RSA Student Design Awards at the RSA House in London.

 Play-by-Play of the Day

 

The afternoon started with some highlights from last year presented by Rebecca Ford, Head of Design Programme.

 

Natalie Ortiz, Programme Manager of the Student Design Awards updated us on the new submission criteria. 

 

Rebecca expanded a little more on the topic of systems thinking.

 

And then we had fast-paced presentations of each of the briefs:

Brief 1: AI 100 sponsored by Philips, presented by Jon Rodriguez.

 

Brief 2: Cultivating Community sponsored by L&G, presented by Johnny Grey and Eleanor Jukes.

 

Brief 3: Make Fashion Circular sponsored by People’s Postcode Lottery Dream Fund Award, with additional support from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, presented by Elodie Rousselot.

 

Brief 4: Healthy Routes sponsored by the UK’s National Innovation Centre for Ageing, presented by Jasmine Robinson.

 

Brief 5: Branching Out sponsored by John Makepeace, with additional support from the Woodland Heritage Trust, presented by Elliot Kett.

 

Brief 6: Platform for Joy sponsored by Network Rail, presented by Anthony Dewar.

 

Brief 7: Just About Managing sponsored by the Marketing Trust, with additional support from The Chartered Institute of Marketing, presented by Atif Shafique.

 

Brief 8: Dignity in Displacement sponsored by Legacy Funds to the RSA, presented by Natalie Ortiz.

 

Brief 9: Moving Pictures sponsored by Legacy Funds to the RSA, with additional support from NCR, presented by Mairi Ryan.

 

It was brought to our attention that the submission requirements for Moving Pictures were not present in the competition pack, we apologise for this and have now updated it. Please see our updated competition pack and specific submission requirements.

 

 In the evening we had a public event to mark the launch of the 2019/20 RSA Student Design Awards, a panel discussion on ‘Designing Circular Fashion Futures.’

 

Thank you to the partners, panelists, university tutors and everyone else who attended the launch of the 2019/20 competition. For 96 years this competition has been a catalyst for powerful new approaches, innovative products, pioneering services, illuminating campaigns, inspiring environments and impactful experiences  we can’t wait to see what’s in store this year!
