Student Design Awards winner: Launder

WINNER: Brief 3, Make Fashion Circular - How might we use circular design principles to innovate the way we produce, use and access everyday clothing items?

‘Launder’ is a repositioning of the laundrette as a multi-service clothes care centre which radically changes views on clothes ownership to inspire a culture of care and preservation, whilst engaging young adults in a sense of community.

Fast fashion and easy access to online shopping have led to an increase in continuous consumption to fulfil short-term needs whilst, at the same time, our knowledge of clothing care techniques and skills have started to disappear. Launder is a repositioning of the laundrette as a multi-service clothes care destination, radically changing views on clothes ownership to inspire a culture of care and preservation, whilst engaging young adults in a sense of community.
