CVD is the leading cause of death globally (World Health Organisation 2021). An unhealthy diet is a key behavioural risk factor that can lead to heart disease or a stroke. PeppHeart is a card and app system designed to support young people in their healthy-eating journey, from the supermarket to the kitchen table. Heart-healthy foods are subsidised through the card and the accompanying app provides cooking guidance and recipe recommendations based on the user’s needs.
