This event will combine the screening of the film "Most Likely to Succeed" with a panel discussion exploring how we might change the future of primary and secondary education.

Building on previous RSA events centred on the theme of rethinking education, the post-screening panel discussion seeks to explore a range of concerns and proposed solutions highlighted within the film.

How can we ensure that we not only prepare young people for the 21st century, but also provide learning experiences that will support them in shaping what the future will look like in productive, collaborative, sustainable and positive ways?

We’ll also be discussing:

  • How do we view the purpose of primary and secondary education and does the current system support and foster this view?
  • How do certain aspects of the current system inhibit or prevent this view of education?
  • Have different schools found alternative ways of circumventing certain pressures and restrictions?
  • How could we alter the current system to help promote a more positive, collaborative and productive set of relationships, outcomes and educational experiences?
  • Do we need to develop more localised, collaborative and supportive approaches to accountability and quality assurance, rather than systems that focus more on notions of blame and restricted views of performance measurement and learning?

Our event will include teachers, practitioners, policy-makers, academics and a wide range of people who care about and are involved in the process of education. We hope that this workshop will not only inspire our thinking about teaching and learning, but also open up collaborative and creative ways of viewing the future of education.

Event format

  • The film screening will begin at 16:00 (registration opens at 15:30), followed by hot food and drinks at 17:30.
  • The panel discussion will be between 18:00 – 20:00 and we’ll finish with a drinks reception within the museum from 20:00.

If you have already seen the film, you may wish to join us from 17:30 for the panel discussion only.

Most Likely To Succeed
A thought-provoking documentary feature film that reveals the growing shortcomings of conventional education methods in today's innovative world. The film explores compelling new approaches that aim to revolutionize education as we know it, inspiring school communities to reimagine what students and teachers are capable of.
