The Gerard Room is named in honour of Ronald Gerard (born 1925 – died 2015).

From October 12, 1992, until the 2018 redevelopment of RSA House, the Fellows’ bar was named the Gerard Bar. It was then renamed the Gerard Room and incorporated into The Coffee House.

Ronald Gerard OBE was a property developer and philanthropist, whose many donations to a variety of causes included restoring the paintings in the RSA’s Great Room by James Barry and in 1990 restoring the ornamental plaster ceiling in the RSA’s Tavern Room (which had suffered war damage in 1944).
