In an industry transformed by digital technology, coding is becoming an increasingly essential skill for any young entrepreneur. Having an understanding of coding gives you a new perspective, that will help you use technology to experiment with ideas, design solutions and prototype your own concepts.

Cambridge Coding Academy is an organisation co-founded by Raoul-Gabriel Urma FRSA. It focuses on teaching anyone the fundamentals of coding, using techniques that are specially adapted to the individual and their objectives, and has taught over 1000 students in just a year. As part of a National initiative to support young people in developing these digital skills, they recently launched the Cambridge Coding Academy iDEA badge, in collaboration with iDEA (Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award) founded by HRH The Duke of York.

This initiative gave over 60 young students from the Cambridgeshire area the opportunity to get started coding using the interactive Cambridge Coding online platform, and build their ideas through project-based activities. Upon completion, students were awarded an accredited iDEA coding badge they can present on their CV. The event was hosted at the Cambridge Computer Laboratory and HRH the Duke of York personally attended to inspire the next generation to acquire the skills necessary for the jobs of the future.

The event also marked the launch of the Cambridge Coding Academy Summer School 2016 - an exciting one-week course that combines coding with an authentic University of Cambridge experience. The Cambridge Coding Summer School will take place in July and August 2016.

There are two ways you can get involved:

Aligned with the national computing curriculum and reinforced by defined learning outcomes, the online platform is available to integrate into schools to strengthen the Computer Science curriculum.  If you are a teacher or involved in a school, please get in touch with Raoul for more information.

Or, if you know a student who’d be interested in taking part in the Cambridge Coding Summer School 2016, you will find further details on their website and through their website or social media:
