The Power to Act: RSA Chief Executive's Annual Lecture 2012 – Live screening in Berlin
Wednesday 12 September, 18.30 – 21.00 CET
British Council, Alexanderplatz 1, 10178, Berlin, Germany
The RSA is delighted to announce that there will be a live screening of Matthew Taylor, RSA Chief Executive, presenting his 2012 lecture. This will be hosted in Berlin in partnership with the British Council on Wednesday 12 September.
From caring for an ageing population and tackling unemployment, to preventing climate change and promoting social mobility, it seems we have lost faith in our collective ability to tackle important social challenges. We have become disillusioned by the absence of substantial progress on these and so many other issues, and polls shows our faith in politicians is at a record low. Where do we go from here?
Matthew Taylor argues that there is a fundamental imbalance in the major forces of power which drive progress in the modern world. Until we understand and start to address this power deficit, we will only tinker around the margins of issues which impact deeply on our lives and which belie the values we hold.
Following the lecture, there will be a chance for attendees to discuss issues raised, and to explore ideas for future RSA activity in Germany.
This is an ideal opportunity to meet with other Fellows and interested others in Berlin. The event is being organised by the RSA’s Connector for Germany, Ulf Brandes, together with the British Council. If you are interested in attending (guests are very welcome), please contact ULF by Monday 10 September.
Refreshments will be available at the event.
