How can we tackle the main challenges of our time: the economy in the short-term, life satisfaction in the mid-term, and environment in the long-term?

In this excerpt from the event 'The Power of Compassion: Change Yourself And The World' Matthieu Ricard, Buddhist monk and influential public thinker, makes a robust case for cultivating altruistic love and compassion as the best means for benefitting society – and ourselves.

  • The setting for this talk, with an immobile lady sitting beside Matthieu, is shocking. Why so miserable looking and dull. Take a look at how well TED present their talks and appoint a designer to bring some drama, decent lighting and style to the RSA's presentations. If the RSA wants to exemplify and encourage creativity in the UK, this setting for any inspiring talk could hardly look worse. It's shameful.
