A. Yes, service is included, unless you are catering for less than 20 people, when a service charge of £75.00+VAT will be levied.
Q. Do you offer a special discount for registered charities?
A. Yes, we do offer a discount for charities, please contact the hospitality office for more information.
Q. From what time are the rooms available to hire?
A. For a daytime booking, the rooms are available to hire from 9.00am-5.00pm and in the evening from 6.00-11.00pm.
Q. Do you offer a daily delegate rate?
A. Yes, please see our tariff.
Q. What does the daily delegate rate include?
A. The rate is inclusive of room hire, registration and mid morning tea, coffee & biscuits, 2 course fork buffet lunch, afternoon tea, coffee & cake.
Q. What facilities do you offer for those with special needs?
A. Please see our section on facilities for guests with special needs.
Q. What is included in the room hire price?
A. In our boardrooms, we include all furniture and linen. In our theatres, we include a technician to assist with your presentation, 35mm slide projector, visualiser, Barco video and data projector and a PA system with Dolby surround sound.
Q. Do you do cabaret style seating?
A. Due to the nature of our rooms it is hard to accommodate large numbers seated cabaret style, although we can offer this style for smaller groups.
Technical FAQ
Q. If doing a Powerpoint presentation/data projection, what do I bring in on the day?
A. if you have hired the AV department's laptop, you can bring either a USB stick or
CD-ROM (or if possible email your presentation to audiovis@rsa.org.uk and we will load it on to our laptop prior to your event). If you are using your own laptop please bring a backup USB stick or CD-ROM.
Q. What if we are using more than one laptop?
A. If using more than one laptop we would advise you to hire a switcher. This device enables you to connect more than one laptop into the projector, and switch from one laptop to another. Simply specify the number of laptops being used throughout the event and we will source you a switcher. (If possible it is advised to load all the presentations on to one laptop)
Q. What is a visualiser?
A. Essentially the same principle as a standard OHP however it uses a camera, linked directly to the LCD projector. This can also be used to project 3D objects, acetates and paper.
*Note: It is recommended that you use a simple font in black for example, Arial or Verdana, font size 24, if possible.
Q. What size is the screen in the Great Room Auditorium?
A. 389cm x 219cm
Q. Do we receive any help on the day?
A. Yes - when using either of the theatres, Durham Street Auditorium or the Great Room, a technician is present to assist with all your AV requirements throughout your event.
Q. Can we connect to the Internet?
A. Yes, We can supply you with either wireless or CAT5 connections. However we require prior notice in order to make these available.
(It is recommended that you check with your own IT dept whether your laptop connects using an Analogue line or ISDN line)
