The RSA came into being in 1754 as the ‘Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce and has been at the forefront of social innovation ever since through initiatives such as our Student Design Awards and Royal Designers of Industry. Our mission today is to enable people, places and the planet to flourish in harmony. Our vision is a world where everyone can fulfil their potential and contribute to more resilient, rebalanced and regenerative futures.
Similarly, the university founded in 1882, the birthplace of higher education in Wales. We aim to transform education and by doing so transform lives for the benefit of the learners, employers and communities we serve. UWTSD continues to support the ‘Arts, Manufactures and Commerce’ and is investing in innovation both academically and through its direct and collaborative support of Welsh organisations and companies.
