The RSA Fellowship Council Welcomes New Members

We’re delighted to welcome our new Fellowship Councillors for 2025/26. The Fellowship Council plays a very important role in connecting our diverse global community of Fellows with RSA staff and ensuring every voice is heard. Each new Councillor brings distinctive expertise and experience, championing our mission and strengthening the bonds that help our Fellowship evolve.

Fellowship Council Representation

The Councillors are starting a new term following the RSA elections for the Fellowship Council last year with the results announced at the October 2025 AGM.

They are now selecting their leadership group for the Council. The leadership group brings together the Chair and Deputy Chair of the Fellowship Council, and three additional Councillors who also serve on the Nominations and Governance Panel. This group meets monthly to keep the Council’s work moving forward between wider meetings, ensuring we maintain momentum and continuity.

Representation on the Trustee Board

Up to two Fellowship Council representatives have seats on the Trustee Board, creating a vital link between our Fellowship community and RSA governance. One role is offered to the Chair (or Deputy Chair if they prefer not to take it on), while the Fellowship Council can elects the other in consultation with the Board and Nominations and Governance Panel to ensure we bring the right skills to the table. Our current representatives are Eva Pascoe (London) and Neil Beagrie (outgoing chair of the Fellowship Council). The Nominations and Governance Panel plays an important role across RSA governance, recommending nominees for Board appointments, welcoming new Fellows into membership, overseeing our annual elections, and ensuring the Board has the right balance of skills and experience. The panel also handles Fellowship matters requiring attention and keeps our governance structure under annual review.

The New Fellowship Council’s First Meeting

The newly appointed Fellowship Council held its first hybrid meeting in November, bringing together participants both in-person at John Adam House in London and online from across the globe. This landmark gathering marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Council as it embarks on guiding the future direction of the RSA in partnership with the trustees and staff.

The meeting centred on defining the Council’s strategic priorities for 2025-2027. David Joseph, our new CEO, participated throughout the day, sharing his vision for the RSA’s future and making his commitment abundantly clear: to leverage our incredible heritage, put Fellows at the very forefront of everything we do, and empower projects that create real social impact.

In a series of intensive breakout sessions, Fellowship Councillors collaborated to develop their strategic priorities and identify the key actions needed for success over the next two years. The energy and engagement in the room, and on screen, was palpable as Councillors brought their different perspectives and expertise to the table. These working groups allowed for deep discussion and creative thinking, ensuring that the Council’s plans truly reflect the needs and aspirations of our global Fellowship community.

This first meeting set up a strong foundation for the Council’s work ahead. With a clear strategic direction taking shape and a shared commitment to championing Fellows’ voices, the new Fellowship Council is ready to play its key role in connecting our diverse community with RSA staff and driving forward the initiatives that matter most.
