Lynsey Shaw, a singer-songwriter, producer and multimedia storyteller, became an RSA Fellow in 2020.
Fresh from completing her MA in Film and Cultural Heritage and after spending time working in the US, she was eager to re-establish a creative network. As a self-confessed history nerd, she also found herself drawn to the RSA’s rich heritage.
After attending a couple of RSA events, Lynsey realised the potential of the RSA Fellowship as a launchpad for grassroots initiatives. Motivated by the challenges facing musicians like herself in a rapidly evolving industry, she took action.
After posting on Circle and with the support of members of the Fellowship team, she proposed an event to give overlooked voices a platform and air much-needed conversations about the state of the music industry.
In May 2025, the RSA held The Remix: Revolutionising the Industry from the Ground Up at RSA House.
The event began with an invite-only roundtable, where representatives from across the music industry – including artists and festival organisers – shared insights. An open panel discussion followed, where participants exchanged ideas on AI and licensing, grassroots venues, and creative equity. Some fantastic live acoustic performances concluded proceedings, including from Lynsey herself.
If you want something to be better, you have to start contributing. When you act, other people who feel the same will gravitate towards you. It’s about people- you need people to make change. And the RSA’s stamp was what I needed to be heard.
The response to The Remix was fantastic. The event sold out, and many attendees visited RSA House for the first time.
For Lynsey, the event’s interest demonstrated the absolute need to give unheard voices within the industry a platform, as well as the power of hosting it with the RSA’s support.
“The RSA’s stamp introduced the event to people who might not have found it otherwise,” she says.
And it sounds like this is just the beginning: Lynsey plans to hold similar events in other parts of the country in the coming months, and, as a podcast producer with her history series, she’s also keen to develop a podcast to continue the conversation further. She also plans to join the RSA’s Creative Corridors initiative to help maintain momentum.

With a vibrant career spanning over 20 years, Lynsey has lit up the entertainment world. She’s scored chart hits, headlined arena tours, and captivated audiences on radio, TV, and global stages. She’s fronted bands, produced and hosted unforgettable events, written songs, and directed acclaimed circus-cabaret and comedy-musical shows. Her creative flair extends to film, TV, and the heritage sector, where she pioneers immersive live and digital experiences that bring history to life in bold, unexpected ways.
